I have LOTS of data. How long will it take to back up?

For a typical system on a typical broadband line, Disk Hero backs up data at about 1GB every 70 minutes. But if left undisturbed on a fast connection, you can back up over 9GB in a single day. U3 and USB drives will be slower transfer speeds because of the physical limitations of the USB hardware port on your computer - it runs much slower so just expect this to effect Disk Hero and that this speed limitation is not a function of Disk Hero but a limit to the physical USB port. To read more about USB speeds click here.

You may experience faster or slower speeds depending on your connection. You may want to check your favorite bandwidth meter test to measure your broadband connection. Here is one from Speakeasy that we like to use. You will be uploading to the Disk Hero servers when you back up, so pay attention to the "Upload" part of the test results.

Aside from USB 1.x devices, even the slowest WRITE speed listed is the equivalent of T1 transfer speeds and the READ speeds are even greater than that.

What is the point of all this? Very few people will have average download speeds in excess of a T1, although my 15/2 FiOS is about 9 times that. For uploads, it wouldn't do me much good to have a Read speed of much more than the 1800 kbps or so that I get on FiOS anyway.

Anyone buying Class 6 SD memory today should have no problem keeping up with a T1, or the advertised FiOS upload speed of 2Mbps for the most common levels of FiOS service: 5/2 or 15/2.
