NEW USER INSTALL ISSUE: SQL Express Installation Issues


During Disk Hero installation, SQL Express fails to install and the Disk Hero installation is interrupted.

Reason(s): MDAC installation corrupt, beta versions of SQL Express are installed.

This is a known issue with Microsoft SQL Express and we will post a resolution when Microsoft has a permanent fix. For now see "Resolution"

Resolution:

  •   Uninstall previous versions of SQL Express if present
    • Go to Start->Control Panel.  Click the Add/Remove link, find Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and click "Remove".
  •   Uninstall previous versions of SQL Native Client if present
    • Go to Start->Control Panel.  Click the Add/Remove link, find Microsoft SQL Server Native Client and click "Remove".
  •   Install MDAC 2.8 using the link provided on our website (http://www.diskhero.com/downloads/MDAC_Typ.exe 5.29 MB)
    • Once downloaded, double click on the file to install it.
    • Use all default settings
  •   Install SQL Express by downloading it from Microsoft (http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=65212 53.8 MB)
    • Download the file, then double click it to begin installation.
    • Use all default settings
  •   Install Disk Hero by downloading it from http://www.diskhero.com look for the DOWNLOADS tab

Options
